Salida Arts & Culture will present a free day of theater for young audiences with Creede Repertory Theater's touring shows for youth, starting at 9:30 a.m. Sept. 4 at Salida SteamPlant, 220 W. Sackett Ave.
The day will include two live theater performances as well as snacks, activities and an acting workshop led by the Creede Repertory touring company, a press release stated.
A live performance of “Campsite 12” for ages 3-7 will kick off the day at 9:30 a.m., followed by snacks and crafts for all ages from 10:10-10:50 a.m. in the ballroom. “Campsite 12” is about unexpected camping trip happenings and involves audience interaction, camping chaos and problem-solving for the youngest learners.
The second performance, at 11 a.m., is “Dale! Dale! Dale!,” a musical for kindergarten through fifth-grade students. The family-friendly musical is by Alebrije Writers Collective with music by Deborah Wicks la Puma. The story involves a lonely boy who, the day before his birthday party, befriends Pancracio, the “biggest and bravest piñata in town” and what happens when the party begins.
After the second show, at about noon, Creede Repertory company members will lead a free acting workshop for elementary ages. Students also will receive study guides.
